Pie in the Sky: Financial Self Improvement at Your Local Credit Union

In regards to my thoughts on Principle #4 and Credit Unions as self-help organizations:

With Americans apparent obsessed with all things self-help, how is this not a focal point of American CUs?

If there is a National Brand that could weave CUs together, I’d make a strong case for this as “the one”.

That’s pretty much one of our main objectives in developing the DriveUp Savings program and why we insist on there being the rate match. We’re trying to help those who need it the most . . . the most. The fact is, many folks WANT to save, they just don’t have the discipline or the awareness of how to do so. The DUS program won’t makle someone filty rich, but it will help them learn to save without really trying all that much. I’m hoping to develop and/or see more innovative products from CU’s in the future that focus on this “products helping people” approach.
